America Wakes Up To The Bidet

Some people think the subject of bidets to be too indelicate to openly discuss. Ha! In today’s America, the discussion must take place openly for a number of reasons. Let’s begin with the top five:

1. Control and diminish the spread of disease – Using a bidet means a dramatic reduction in the spread of fecal bacteria contaminants. These contaminants are typically spread through contact, either hand to hand or hand to surface, and the potential result is Illness and disease.

2. What to do while waiting for health insurance – With so many Americans and their families living their lives without the benefit of health care insurance, we must find alternative solutions until such services become available. Training our children to use a bidet is an invaluable practice that will enhance their lives and positively affect those they come in contact with.

3. Debunk the notion that bidets are cost prohibitive – For the uninitiated, average American please note that there are inexpensive bidet attachments available to the public. Besides being inexpensive, these attachments are also highly effective and easy to install. The best part about getting a bidet attachment is that you can purchase and install one on every toilet in your home, for use by all family members. Typically, the more expensive plumbed versions are only installed in the master bedroom or master suite, leaving the rest of the family vulnerable. Now, we can change that without worrying about the cost, and install a bidet attachment on each commode in our home.

4. The clean and refreshing feeling – Nothing quite compares to the feeling one has after using a bidet. Once you’ve tried it you will become a convert for life. It is a far superior way to clean the private parts while at the same time avoiding the irritation caused by rubbing with paper. Which brings us to number five.

5. Save the forests – For those of us concerned with our rapidly diminishing eco systems, we think of a bidet as a key green technology. Independent analyses show that making a single roll of toilet paper requires 37 gallons of water, 1.3 kilowatt/hours of electricity and some 1.5 pounds of wood. We must also consider that toilet paper is a public nuisance in that it clogs pipes and adds a significant load onto city sewer systems and water treatment plants. By contrast, most people use a small amount of paper to dry their posteriors after the bidet has done its job. The ripple effect is obvious.
